While there are some at-home routines help care for your appearance, such as washing your pillowcases once a week to prevent oils and bacterias from building up, many medicals spas often have more specific treatments that are needed to help solve specific issues. Treatments offered at medical spas can not only benefit your skin, but they can help you look and feel better overall. One such treatment is coolsculpting, something you may have heard about, but not know much about. To help clear up any confusion, here is what you need to know.
Coolscuplting treatments are used to target areas of fat in hard to remove places. The process itself is not invasive and uses freezing to breakdown fat cells under the skin, leaving other cells undamaged. While the procedure itself isn’t painful, most report a numbing or cooling sensation during treatment. Overall, the process takes around an hour to complete with no downtime afterward. Because of this, more and more people have begun turning to coolsculpting to help remove fat that otherwise can’t be lost with diet and exercise. However, it is important to note that the results of coolsculpting can take up to four to six months, after which the fat in the area will be decreased by — on average — 20%.
Coolscupting has a very high success rate; however, that doesn’t mean that it will be right for everyone. While it has fewer side effects than more invasive procedures such as liposuction, it won’t completely rid an area entirely of fat. Additionally, some patients could experience loose skin in the treated area if the skin had been stretched too significantly.
With that said, coolsculpting is an entirely cosmetic procedure, and as such has no major health risks associated with it. The greatest complications can include bruising, redness, swelling, and treatment site pain, with the most common complication being a lessening of sensation. However, complications such as these are only noted in around one percent of patients, with most reporting no difficulty or complications related to the procedure.
While there are a lot of at-home things we can do to make ourselves look and feel better, sometimes medical spa treatments can provide the help that we can’t get anywhere else. While coolsculpting won’t take the place of diet and exercise, it can help reduce fat in stubborn areas while being relatively quick and easy.
