What is a PCA Skin Peel?
A chemical peel is a procedure that’s used to improve the appearance of the skin through controlled application. At Skin and Sculpt medical Spa, we specialize in varying strengths of superficial chemical peels: Light chemical peels treat the outer layers of the skin, while stronger chemical peels penetrate deeper into the skin’s surface.
Chemical peels work by changing the pH of the skin, which loosens the cells that form the “glue” between dead skin and healthy skin. With that bond chemically loosened, exfoliation occurs as dead skin is removed to reveal healthy skin underneath. This process promotes the growth of new, healthy skin cells. Chemical peels are used to treat dull complexion, age spots, fine lines, discoloration, melasma, rough skin, acne, and sun damaged skin.

Formulated with a blend of exfoliating acids and calming ingredients, this superficial peel removes impurities, detoxifies pores, and helps reduce inflammation post-treatment while boosting the production of collagen to help prevent signs of premature aging. This efficacious peel treatment is suitable for all Fitzpatricks and skin types, especially sensitive skin, and it helps support barrier function and recovery.
PCA SKIN® Sensi Peel - A unique chemical peel option for all patients, including those with sensitive skin. This universal 6% TCA solution will improve surface texture and brighten the skin while helping promote an even skin tone. This multi-faceted and skin-brightening treatment is an excellent option for sensitive skin and higher Fitzpatrick skin types.
SkinMedica® Illuminize Peel - The Illuminize Peel is the most superficial of the SkinMedica peels. There is no down time and little to no visible peeling. It can be repeated every 2 weeks. It brightens and tightens the skin for a more youthful appearance. It also helps reduce fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, and pigment irregularities (brown or dark spots). It is the ideal peel for first-time patients looking for quick skin enhancement and mild exfoliation.
Level II peels:
PCA SKIN® PCA Peel - Rejuvenates and improves the appearance of breakout-prone skin, while also promoting an even, bright skin tone. This enhanced Jessner's solution is ideal for more sensitive skin types, deeper skin tones, and those allergic to or sensitive to hydroquinone.
PCA SKIN® PCA Peel w/ Hydroquinone - Promotes an even skin tone and a clear complexion. This enhanced Jessner's formula is for those who want an even skin tone and have no sensitivity to hydroquinone.
PCA SKIN® PCA Peel w/ Hydroquinone and Resorcinol - The most potent of PCA’s enhanced Jessner's formulas, this peel will help improve the appearance of skin tone and provide exfoliation for oilier, thicker and more resilient skin types.
SkinMedica® Vitalize Peel - The Vitalize Peel is slightly stronger than the Illuminize Peel. There is mild to moderate peeling lasting 2-5 days. It can be repeated every 3-4 weeks. It works to reduce the appearance of mild to moderate skin imperfections, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and melasma. One can obtain brighter results after just one peel and more compelling results after 3-6 peels.
Level III peels:
PCA SKIN® Ultra Peel - Specially formulated to treat maturing skin, Ultra Peel® is also appropriate for many other skin types, conditions, and sensitivities. It helps improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while promoting an even skin tone and clear complexion.
PCA SKIN® MD Peel - Most suitable for those with resilient skin. This highly active treatment rejuvenates the skin and improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while promoting an even skin tone.
SkinMedica® Rejuvenize Peel - The Rejuvenize Peel is the strongest of the SkinMedica superficial peels. The formulation targets the deeper layers of the epidermis for enhanced exfoliation. There is moderate peeling lasting 3-7 days. It can be repeated every 4-6 weeks. It works to reduce the appearance of moderate to severe skin imperfections, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and melasma. A series of 3-6 peels is recommended for compelling results, although results can be seen after just one peel.
