Coolsculpting is a non-surgical procedure that uses cold temperatures to freeze and kill stubborn fat cells in the body. It is meant for sculpting parts of the body where it might be more difficult to lose weight and get a sleek appearance. However, it is not meant to be a weight loss therapy. In fact, the ideal candidate for this procedure is within ten to fifteen pounds of their desired weight (per Allure Laser Med Spa). If you weigh more than thirty pounds more than you want to, you likely won’t get the results you want.
If you are considering Coolsculpting, here are some things to expect before, during, and after the procedure.
Before you can get Coolsculpting done on your body, we need to make sure that you are a good candidate for it. During your consultation, we will measure the levels of subcutaneous fat in your body. We will also determine which parts of your body are a good fit.
The actual procedure lasts for about an hour per area and you are awake for it. At the beginning, your provider will use an applicator to apply cold temperatures to your body and freeze the layers of fat cells under the skin. Then, the fatty area is protected and vaccuumed into a suction part of the applicator. It stays in there for the majority of your procedure. While this is happening, you might feel cold, stinging, or cramping. However, pain does reduce once the numbing effect kicks in. When the suction is finished, they will massage the area for two to three minutes, finishing up the process.
Immediately after your procedure, you might have some side effects. These include redness and swelling at the treatment site. You might also feel pain like stinging or cramping. This discomfort will not last very long.
You will begin to see results about one to three months after your treatment. Once the fat cells die off, your body will eliminate them through its natural processes and the areas that were treated will begin to look more sculpted.
While Coolsculpting isn’t for everyone, it can be very helpful for candidates who are trying to lose just a little more stubborn fat. It is non-invasive and drugfree, which makes it a very attractive option.
