CoolSculpting Elite in Knoxville, TN
CoolSculpting Elite is a non-surgical option for selected areas of localized fat. At Skin & Sculpt Medical Spa in Knoxville, treatment starts with an assessment of your goals, health history, body contours, and whether the area is suitable for an applicator.
Visit our CoolSculpting Elite service page for treatment details and important safety information.
How Does CoolSculpting Elite Work?
The treatment uses controlled cooling, also called cryolipolysis, to affect fat cells in a targeted area. The body gradually clears damaged cells, so the visible change develops over time rather than immediately.
It is a contouring treatment, not a treatment for obesity or an alternative to medically guided weight management. Your consultation should distinguish overall weight goals from a specific area you would like to refine.
Which Areas Can Be Considered?
Depending on the device indication, applicator fit, and clinical assessment, areas may include the abdomen, flanks, thighs, upper arms, bra or back fat, the area beneath the buttocks, and selected areas beneath the chin or jawline. Your provider should confirm that the proposed area and applicator are appropriate for you.
The shape and amount of fat matter. A photograph alone cannot establish candidacy, and treating more areas does not guarantee a better result.
Who May Be a Good Candidate?
A consultation may be useful if your weight is relatively stable and you are concerned about a localized fat bulge. Be clear about the change you hope to see and ask what the treatment cannot accomplish.
Loose skin, significant weight changes, a hernia, or certain medical conditions may make a different approach more appropriate. Tell your provider about surgeries, scars, altered sensation, circulation problems, cold sensitivity, and any conditions that affect your blood or skin.
People with cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria should not undergo CoolSculpting. Other cold-related conditions also require careful screening.
What Happens During a Visit?
Your provider maps the area and explains the treatment plan. The applicator can create sensations of pulling, pressure, and intense cold at first. Sensation may change as the area becomes numb. Ask about treatment time and comfort measures for your specific plan.
Before committing, discuss the number of applicators or cycles, whether repeat sessions may be recommended, total cost, and follow-up. These details vary between patients and treatment areas.
Recovery and Risks
Temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness, aching, and numbness can occur. Recovery varies, so avoid assuming there will be no downtime. Less common complications include burns and nerve-related effects.
A rare but serious complication is paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, or PAH: the treated fat becomes enlarged and firm instead of shrinking. It can develop months later and may require surgery. Report persistent or unexpected changes to your provider.
Review the complete device safety information during consultation. Non-surgical does not mean risk-free, and results are not guaranteed.
CoolSculpting Elite vs. Kybella
For selected under-chin concerns, your provider may discuss Kybella as another option. Kybella uses prescription injections; CoolSculpting uses cooling. They have different risks and recovery expectations. Neither addresses every cause of under-chin fullness.
If your primary goal is weight loss, ask about a separate medical evaluation. Contouring decisions are best made with a realistic plan for weight stability and long-term habits.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is CoolSculpting Elite weight loss?
No. It is intended for localized contouring in appropriate candidates.
When will I see a change?
Results develop gradually over the following months. Ask when your provider recommends evaluating the outcome and whether another session should be considered.
Is there downtime?
Many people return to routine activities soon, but soreness, swelling, numbness, and other effects can affect recovery. Your experience may differ.
Will it tighten loose skin?
Do not assume fat reduction will correct skin laxity. Your provider should assess loose skin separately and explain the limits of the proposed treatment.
