BOTOX® is an FDA-approved treatment from AbbVie used for both medical and cosmetic purposes. BOTOX® Cosmetic was first approved in 2002 to temporarily reduce the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet in adults aged 18 to 65. Botox Cosmetic is also FDA-approved to treat moderate to severe vertical bands connecting the jaw and neck, also known as platysmal bands, in adults. It works by relaxing targeted muscles to reduce activity that causes wrinkles or symptoms, with results typically appearing in 3 to 10 days and lasting about 3 to 4 months.
Xeomin® is a botulinum toxin type A from Merz Pharmaceuticals that is FDA approved for treating the glabellar lines in adults ages 18 to 65, and results may last 3–4 months. Xeomin® is a purified form of botulinum toxin type A without accessory proteins.
Dysport® is a botulinum toxin type A from Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals that is FDA approved for treating glabellar lines in adults ages 18 to 65, and results may last 3–4 months. Units differ by product—your provider will determine the appropriate dosing.
Daxxify® is a botulinum toxin type A with FDA approval for treatment of glabellar lines. Some patients may experience longer duration.
