DERMAPLANING
Dermaplaning uses a #10 uniquely designed scalpel to gently exfoliate the skin to reveal a smoother and brighter complexion. Our licensed estheticians and nurse practitioner are highly trained and very experienced in dermaplaning.
Dermaplaning is a favorite skin treatment in the entertainment industry. It eliminates annoying peach fuzz that cakes up in make-up. Dermaplaning removes dead skin cells and facial hair to leave the surface of the skin silky smooth. Dermaplaning also assists penetration of skincare products and creates a smooth canvas for flawless make-up application. This treatment can be used in conjunction with other services such as laser and chemical peels. Dermaplaning is well suited for dry skin types and anyone who wishes to get rid of peach fuzz.
Who is it for?
Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types except those with acneic skin. If you have cystic acne, wait until active breakouts clear before dermaplaning. Always discuss any allergies or skin sensitivities before starting a treatment.
This is a great treatment if you are pregnant or nursing and want exfoliation without the risk of harsh chemicals absorbing into the blood stream and potentially harming the baby.
What does the treatment feel like?
Dermaplaning is a painless procedure that feels like shaving. Prior to the treatment the esthetician will cleanse and thoroughly dry your skin. Skin will be held taut while short, swift strokes are used to scrape off dead skin cells and peach fuzz.
How long does it take?
30 Minutes
Are there immediate side effects
There are no immediate side effects and zero downtime. Your skin will be more sun sensitive, so be sure to wear a broad spectrum sunscreen with a SPF of 30 or higher. Many people are concerned that hair will grow back more coarse and dark, but that is an “old wives’ tale”. Superficial vellus hair (science-y name) will grow back at the same rate and with the same texture as it was before treatment.
